Officials Hope Move Will Help Site Crack Down On Prostitution

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS/AP) Under the watchful eye of law enforcement in 40 states, Craigslist pledged Thursday to crack down on ads for prostitution on its Web sites.
As part of Craigslist’s agreement with attorneys general around the country, anyone who posts an “erotic services” ad will be required to provide a working phone number and pay a fee with a valid credit card.
The Web site will provide that information to law enforcement if subpoenaed.
Jim Buckmaster, Craigslist’s president, said the deal with 43 attorneys general will allow legitimate escort and other services to continue advertising, while providing a strong disincentive to companies who are conducting illegal business.
“We don’t view it as a penalty, we view it as raising the accountability,” he said. “A legitimate business should have no problem with that. They should have no problem providing a phone number or credit card credentials.”

It is October 30 and that means tonight is Mischief Night. When I was growing up we would go out and egg houses and create other miscellaneous mischief. It seems like now the kids do not go out and do anything. You never see the toilet paper, smashed pumpkins, or eggs. I guess it is part of the Pussification of America. Don’t get me wrong I do not enjoy my car being egged I just like to see the kids having fun. So I hope this year you have a safe Mischief Night.

I have been a satisfied Linksys customer till today. I recently had to put my hard drive and memory into a new tower because my old computer took a shitter. So I went to hook it up to the internet with my Linksys wireless router card and it would not work. I had a Linksys program on this tower before so I figured the Wizard would find it in the USB and install it. That was not the case so I called the Linksys number. That is when Dey (pronounced Dee) badge # 28291 answered my call. I gave him the serial number and he said my FREE customer/technical over the phone had expired so he could not help me. He did give me the option of paying $30.00 to renew my customer service and they would help me.
I was upset hearing this as I explained I have purchased a Linksys product and because it was manufactured over a year ago he could not help me install it. That was correct. And again he gave me the option to pay an additional $30.00. So I requested to speak to a manager. At that time Dey put me on hold for over ten minutes and hung up. (I love when they play that game which is why I always get their info) So I called back and spoke to someone else and told them what happened. At this time I requested a manager and someone got on the phone and confirmed the $30.00 fee.
At this time I hung up in frustration and finally figured it out on my own. I do question what America is really coming too? They really tried to rip me off for $30.00 or more for information that should be supplied for free when you purchase a product from their company. This should stand for any company. It is sad how companies take advantage of people everyday. I am glad I did not fall for their scam.
And if you want to call Dey his badge # is 28291 and the Linksys # is 1 800 546.5797
Tell him he can suck on Deeeeeeeeeeeez

<!–[endif]–>If you have been watching the World Series between the Phillies and Rays you know the series is tied 1-1. You also know the terrible game changing calls the umpires have been making. I am a Phillies fan and I will say that during the first game it was clearly a balk by Cole Hamels. Don’t get me wrong I was happy about the blown call but I would rather see validity in sports. And that blown walk was probably a huge call because the Phils got out of the inning.
Next, we can move to game 2 where home plate umpire Kerwin Danley decided to call strike 3 on a check swing but then went to the first base umpire Fieldin Culbreth who called a check swing and the batter was rewarded a walk. The rule is the home plate umpire can not be appealed so once he called it a strike 3 call that is it the first plate umpire should not have any say…. Then there was the 9th inning when Jimmy Rollins jersey was clearly hit by a pitch. Again the rule is if the batters jersey is scraped or touched by the pitch the batter is rewarded first base. Therefore the inning was dramatically changed by a bad call.
I would like to believe that these umpires are being honest but then again look at what happened in the NBA with Tim Donaghy. And in this day and age you never know how honest people are. Especially when it can involve $$$. So I hope the rest of the series is officiated fairly.

As we approach the most important election of our time does anyone question our voting system? Let’s think back about 8 years ago when there was a similar important election between a man name George Bush and a man name Al Gore. From my understanding Al Gore won the popular vote, which is casted by us American voters. Although there was a large amount of confusion as to what votes to count in Florida, where it just so happened that George Bush’s brother was the governor of the state at the time. It did not matter at the end of the day because apparently George Bush won the electoral vote, which actually counts for something. With that said and who knows and who cares who should have really won eight years ago because we have an important election in just a few weeks. And this concerns me because when I go into the voting booth to cast my vote for who I feel would best run this country. I push a button and curtain closes. I feel as if I have just stepped back in time to cast my vote. And who knows how accurate these old voting machines are and how honest the volunteer counters are? As I see this country waste money on all sorts of things why do they not invest in a new voting system that is actually up to date? With all the technology we have I have to push a button on a machine that was probably built in the 1970’s. I think this should be an important topic that should be brought up. Besides we have to put up with all these TV ads and who knows what even happens to our vote.

Have you ever seen the show MXC on Spike TV. If not it is the greatest show ever. The concept is Japanese people dressed in costumes have to complete some crazy obstacles and stunts. At the same time the commentary is amazing. They say some of the funniest puns and lines I have ever heard. Well ABC decided they were going to steal the idea and create Wipeout. I only watched the first episode of Wipeout and said it is a complete rip off of MXC and never watched it again because MXC is much better. Why would ABC not think they would get sued for stealing a show idea. Just like Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader is a blatant rip off of Howard Stern. Howard has been doing that bit for many years and I don’t know why he has not sued. I hope the MXC creators win big $$$… And Howard Stern should go after Who’s Smarter Than A Fifth Grader. I don’t see how he can lose!

As we all know we are in a financial crisis. Now I am no expert but I do my research and pay attention to the important topics and info. I want to share a “break down” of the economy. It started several years back when there was a housing boom and the housing market was flooded with people buying and selling homes. What the problem was the companies providing loans, such as, mortgage firms, banks, etc. where allowing people to get loans for homes that simply were not qualified and almost knowing that they would not financially be able to repay the loan. Why would a company do this? Because they were making some serious $$$ on commissions and other fees. These companies raked in billions in profit.
Now the problem arises a few years later as the people can not repay their loans. Main reason is as a country as a whole we have borrowed way too much money. What happens when we borrow money from other sources, for example, foreign interests? Our interest rates go up and your minimum payment goes way up. Now what if these foreign interests that we borrow money from want their money back? Well then I guess China will own the U.S.A and it will become the U.S.C (United States of China). Now the reason we are borrowing money is obvious. WAR. We have wasted about 600 billion in Iraq. The national debt is now at 10 Trillion. And usually a country’s economy does well during a time of war. Howard Stern did say before president Bush was elected that if he was to win he would bankrupt the country. I don’t think he was too far off from that comment.
As I mentioned above people fail to make their payments because their payments have gone up. And many peoples pay checks are remaining the same or losing their job while gas, food, and everything else has skyrocketed. As people don’t pay their bills the funding institutions such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ran into trouble. So on 9/7/08 Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were taking over by the government. And at the same time companies such as Bear Stearn, Lehman Brothers, AIG, Merrill Lynch, and WaMu lose a ton of money.
Speaking of these companies lets have a quick “break down”. Bear Stearns was founded in 1923 and was sold to JP Morgan in which it merged with them on 6/2/08. Then AIG who was founded in 1919 in Shanghai, China and was funded $85 billion by the government on 9/16/08. Also, Merrill Lynch founded in 1914 was acquired by Bank of America on 9/14/08 for $50 billion. Next, American founded company Lehman Brothers was founded in 1850 and it collapsed and was granted bankruptcy on 9/20/08. Why did the government bailout AIG and not Lehman Brothers? From my understanding AIG was granted the money because there are so many foreign investors that would have lost so much the global economy was at risk. Now Washington Mutual WaMu was founded on 9/25/1889 and was sold on its 119th anniversary 9/25/08 to JP Morgan Chase. What is crazy about this is the CEO Alan Fishman had been on the job 17 days and was contractually guaranteed $11.6 million in cash severance and $7.5 million signing bonus. He netted just under $20 million. If this is not corruption what is?
Now the government wants to bail out these firms with $700 billion. Lets see the “break down”. They want to give taxpayers $$$ to companies that gambled on the sub prime housing market. As we saw that failed and these companies did too. Now giving these companies $700 billion is like giving a person with a gambling problem that money. Should we take that gamble?

As I watch America’s favorite past time sport, which has been corrupted with its share of scandals from Pete Rose’s betting to the steroid controversy now. Do you notice the amount of broken bats there are? It seems like every game has at least one incident of a broken bat either reaching the crowd, pitcher, or other infielders. Recently while at the plate Phillies Geoff Jenkins was injured by his own bat that broke. Click Here To View Full Story
All baseball bats used in MLB are made from either two woods. Ash or Maple. Ash was the premiere wood used for bats but now most bats are made from maple.
The MLB is investigating the broken bat situation and as of 7/2/08 to 9/9/08 over 1,700 broken bats have been collected. They are collecting the bats for analysis. Click Here To View Full Story
We hope no one ends up seriously injured from these bats. Not only do you have to worry about foul balls now you have flying bats.
