NFL Red Zone

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

I just want to congratulate the NFL on getting something right. The NFL Redzone is the greatest channel ever. It supplies all the highlights of all the games all at once. You could not flip around the TV to every game any better than this. It is absolutely amazing and the host is Scott Hansen in which he does a tremendous job. He is one of the best broadcasters out there. This channel is a touchdown.

Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Now that Manny Pacquiao has defeated Miguel Cotto it is time to set up the Pacquiao vs May weather fight. As we now know from the pay per view numbers from the Pacquiao/Cotto fight that it was highly televised and watched by many that we are ready for the 2nd greatest fight of all time. Of course there was Ali/Frazer and I am skipping all the legendary Tyson, Holyfield, and other great fights becasue they will not compare to the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight. It will be the greatest fight of our time and I believe that boxing can officially retire after this one because they will not be able to top this match having no big names in the making. Furthermore it will be the highest televised and viewed boxing event ever. So with all the hype you can pay both fighters the 10 million dollars they deserve and lets get ready to this! I look forward to watching the greatest boxing match of my time. Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather

Thirty-year old Manny Pacquiao is the first Filipino and Asian fighter to have earned five world titles in five different weight classes. Since he began boxing at the age of sixteen, Pacquiao has won an unprecedented 37 of his 49 wins by knock-out, and has only lost three matches in his career.

Floyd Mayweather, aged 32, has never lost a match but has only participated in 39 matches to Pacquiao’s 54. Mayweather, trained by his father and uncle, has learned defensive techniques that few boxers have mastered. He once compared himself to Ali and touted himself as the greatest boxer in the world at that time.

After 16 months of retirement, Mayweather re-emerged to go head to head with Juan Manuel Marquez on July 18 th, 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather is considering that a simple warm-up to his fight against Pacquiao.

NFL Shipwrecks Captain Morgan Campaign

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Captain Morgan may have pulled off the quietest and shortest-lived advertising ambush in sports history last Sunday. One that was almost universally unknown, barely noticed, and yet, promptly squashed by the NFL this week.

Eagles tight end Brent Celek caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Donovan McNabb then appeared to purposefully back up and align himself in front of television cameras. Putting his hands on his hips, Celek raised his right leg, mimicking a pose similar to the pirate on Captain Morgan’s label.

As far as anyone knows, it’s the first time we’ve seen that type of guerilla-style advertising campaign in an NFL end zone. And if the league has its way, it will be the last, too. The “Captain Morgan” was effectively banned this week after the league learned of a wider campaign meant to get players to repeatedly strike the pose during NFL games.
