A representative for Janet Jackson says the singer has been hospitalized after falling ill shortly before a concert.
According to statement released by W&W Public Relations, the singer canceled her concert in Montreal on Monday after she “got suddenly ill” during her sound check and had to be rushed to the hospital just before show time.
The statement says Jackson is being monitored at the hospital and hopes to reschedule the show. No further information was given about Jackson’s condition.
A phone call placed to W&W after hours went unanswered, and a representative did not immediately return an e-mail seeking more information.
Jackson, 42, is on a North American tour.

Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill immediately blamed each other for the failure of a $700 billion bailout package in the House on Monday.
House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said there would be no revote on the bill on Monday because members had left the Capitol.
It was unclear in what form the congressional leadership would bring the bill back to the House floor.
The stock market immediately dipped hundreds of points after it became apparent that the bill would fail. The Dow closed down 777 points at the end of trading Monday, a record plunge.
The package, which was backed by both the Democratic and Republican congressional leadership as well as President Bush, failed in the House by a vote of 228-205.
Nearly 60 percent of Democrats voted for the bill, while about a third of Republicans supported it.

Stocks skidded Monday, with the Dow slumping nearly 778 points, in the biggest single-day point loss ever, after the House rejected the government’s $700 billion bank bailout plan.
The day’s loss knocked out approximately $1.2 trillion in market value, the first post-$1 trillion day ever, according to a drop in the Dow Jones Wilshire 5000, the broadest measure of the stock market.

Travis Barker was released from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, on Monday morning (September 29), a spokesperson for the hospital confirmed to MTV News.
The drummer spent nine days at the center after the plane crash that took the lives of four people and seriously injured Barker and DJ AM. Barker underwent treatment for severe burns on his torso and lower body. Still spokesperson Beth Frits said Monday that she believed he was heading home to Los Angeles.
“Travis is in good condition and was discharged this morning,” Frits told People.com on Monday. “He has left Augusta.”

The Australian actor, who died from an accidental prescription drug overdose in January, signed a will before his daughter was born leaving everything to his parents and three sisters. Some had speculated his former partner Michelle Williams would lodge a claim for the money.
But Ledger’s father, Kim Ledger, told the Australian newspaper The Sunday Times that the family had given all the money to Matilda and that there had been no challenge from Williams.
“There is no claim,” the newspaper quoted Kim Ledger as saying in a report published Sunday. “Our family has gifted everything to Matilda.”
The actor signed the will on April 12, 2003. It lists assets and cash of just $118,000, but the actor’s estate is believed to be worth more than $16.3 million, the newspaper said.
